I didn't plan on becoming a therapist — life led me here. After starting my career as a school counselor, my experience as a mother searching for mental health support for my own child opened my eyes to the need for compassionate, accessible care. That realization changed everything.
Fifteen years later, I remain as passionate as ever about supporting young people, young adults, and adults on their healing journeys. My approach is eclectic and individualized, blending EMDR, play therapy, psychoeducation, DBT, CBT, and meditation to meet each person where they are.

I’m Yaya, a former educator and registered Dance/Movement Therapist with a trauma-informed approach. I specialize in grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral stressors, body image and self-esteem, bullying, and supporting teens and young adults navigating high school, college and adulthood.
I integrate the arts into therapy, creating a virtual safe space where clients can explore emotions, build resilience, and develop practical tools for managing mental health. My goal is to help each individual feel seen, heard, and supported.
I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Dance/Movement Therapy in 2023 from Lesley University. Outside of work, I love dancing, stepping, volunteering, playing Uno, and recharging with some well-deserved rest.

Oliver joined Bayside Counseling in February of 2020. The COVID shutdown affected him, just like it affected most of us. Once we were able to meet again in masks, he became anxious. To this day, he is working on his coping skills and doing very well! Once one on one in the office, he is a peaceful energy, and if needed a warm friendly head/back to pet. If you see him in the office, he is more likely to come to you if you are sitting and he can come on his own. He is an example to all of us that having anxiety is okay and it can get better. When Ollie is not at work, he enjoys jumping on his humans, swimming in the bay and annoying his older brother, Gibbs.
